I have always been an Android fan, and I’we had a few Android Phones ranging from the horrible Sony Experia mini (or whatever it was called) to the Galaxy S2 & S4 and recently I have been using the Samsung Note 3 and they are all (except the Sony) good phones for they’re time. I love the feel of a premium Samsung device and the features they pack them with but, and it is a big BUT to… I don’t really care for TouchWiz its just too damn slow, some of it’s features i like, like the possibility to swipe left or right in the messages app or the phone app to either call or text someone. Another thing I don’t like about, well this is more Samsung related than TouchWiz it self but I despise the fact that updates take forever to arrive, and I’m not talking download time but the time it takes from a new Android is released to it arrives at the customers. Enough about what I like and dislike about Android and Samsung.
As the title of the post indicates times are changing, and so am I. Before you go completely apeshit on me and cuss me out for switching to Apple, let me make it clear; I would much rather have my eyes removed by a rusted blunt fork than switch to apple! (sorry all fanboys, but that’s just my opinion. Que comment wars) So what else is there if I’m not using Android and not apple? behold the glorious Windows Phone! yea I know… when I first heard about Windows Phone I too thought “meeh, that’ll never amount to anything”
Recently Microsoft unveiled the Microsoft Lumia 950 and the 950 XL with a schedule release on December 2. Two premium phones that look beautiful both in pictures and on the tech sheet. There is one flaw on those phones, the price. Windows Phone is an underdog and it exists in somewhat of a paradox, few people use it because of the lack of apps and there are a lack of apps because few people use it. With that in mind I’m not about to dish out 700$ (6000 NOK) for a phone with great hardware but an under developed operating system. So NO i did not buy the 950 or the 950XL I am afraid… I bought the more sensibly priced 640 XL which here in cold old Norway clocks in at about 230$ (2000 NOK). It’s not as hardware heavy as the 950’s, in fact it’s pretty much an Note 3, the screen is a bit better on the note 3 at-least on paper.
Looks so good
Orange is the new black?
So in the course of the next few weeks I’ll be writing about my switch from Samsung to Microsoft, I might event throw in a Video review and I know I’we promised that before and failed, back then I didn’t do enough research up front, turns out my computer will not for the life of me allow me to record narration from more than one mic at the same time so that video had to be scrapped.
