Motorola’s new round smart watch the Moto 360 is being released at 11:00 CT today 05.09.2014.

This is a product we are eagerly awaiting and really hope to get our hands on for or in a more figuratively speaking way get on our hands. Pun intended! This together with the LG watch R we predict will be a revolution in the smart watch design. I personally would never buy the Samsung Galaxy Gear watches simply based on the design, a square watch just never appealed to me. The Moto 360 specs are about what is to be expected when compared to others it has a Texas Instruments OMAP 3 chip that can be compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 that runs at 1,2 GHz but the actual clock speed of the CPU is yet unconfirmed by Motorola. We would be very supprised to find anything other than the OMAP3640 chip in the watch. The screen is a 1,56″ backlit LCD with a 320 x 290 resolution at 205 PPI (pixel per inch) covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the same as the Samsung Galaxy S4 has. The battery powering it is a 320 mAh that according to Motorola will last “all day with mixed use”, recent test have shown about 12 hours from full to empty. The watch is charged wireless though it’s docking station.

The watch comes with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB internal storage, it has buildt in pedometer and optical heart rate monitor. The 360 connects to any android phone running Android 4.3 or higher using Bluetooth 4.0 LE (Low energy) the good news is that the 360 is IP67 rated which means it is waterproof for 30 minutes at 1 meter depth, it is also dust proof.

Other specs worth mentioning is that it has a vibration motor and dual microphones. The dimensions are 46 mm diameter and 11 mm high it launches with two choices of wrist bands black and grey leather, and a choice of either light or dark stainless steel case, but as stated on Motorolas own 360 site Stone leather, silver and black steel bands are coming soon. Personally I’ll wait for the black steel band before I get one.
