After taking the plunge and getting into the Linux platform using a headless box running Ubuntu 11.04 using the built-in VNC server Vino we upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot earlier this week we encountered a problem, the VNC server did no longer work and this has sett off many topics in Ubuntu/Linux forums around the globe but no one has produced an answer that works, until NOW!
we decided to try to figure this one out without googeling or contacting Ubuntu and the answer was easy… we started by setting the VNC server up like always going into desktop sharing and enabled that, then we did a nmap localhost which showed no open ports… so just for the heck of it we decided to try this and it worked!
open terminal and write the following code: “sudo apt-get remove vino”
and when that’s done simply do “sudo apt-get install vino”
start desktop sharing again and disable and enable it and shazzam! VNC working!

Got an Android phone and just can’t figure out how to set a custom notification sound?
We recently came across the same problem and the solution is fairly straight forward!
Create a folder in /sdcard/media/audio/ called notifications then copy the file you would like to use in there then go back into settings->audio and you should find it under notification tone!
Andre Yang has again pushed the World record in Overclocking… this time he got the AMD FX-8150 CPU up to 8,58 Ghz wich is 123.3 mhz higher than the last he set, this time he did it sponsored by AMD and ofcause using LNG cooling…
Again Nordic-vikings.net congratulates Andre!
We’re still looking for writers!
We really need someone to cover Apple but we’re also interested in people to write about Windows and/or Linux…
Someone with good knowledge about phones would also be nice…
So if you fit any of the above descriptions give us a shout!
If you’r English is bad we can help you translate so don’t hesitate to mail us…
One month after launching AMD FX-8150 also known as Bulldozer AMD set a world record in overclocking it, they sat down a five man crew specialy picked for the job and got it up to 8429,38 Mhz now this record has been beat by a bloke named Andre Yang.
He managed to get it to 8461Mhz using a Asus Croshair IV motherboard, 2gb ram and he gave the cpu 2 volt to make it stable. Congratulations go out to Andre Yang from us here at Nordic-vikings.net beeing hardcore AMD fans…
