Googles search completion and Norway’s mail service’s parcel tracking let’s you track other peoples Parcells

Here the other day we headed over to Posten Norges website to track our parcel and came across something a bit odd.

Google chrome has a built in Personal Search Completion which is a great feature normally, it helps you remember what you searched for, and mix in what other people searched for on the same site in case you’re looking for the same thing or are unsure what to search for. You do get a few pointers in the right direction, and it has helped us a few times so we are proof it works.

On the other hand we don’t want to share the tracking number on our parcels with others because this is all you need to pick up the parcel when it arrives. But at Posten’s site it is possible to guess a whole lot of these numbers, if it works for parcels in transit we are unsure as the only ones we have tracked have been delivered/picked up but in theory it’s possible, and here’s how it works:

Head over to Posten (Posten in English) an you will find the tracking form on the right. Now start off by putting two letters in the box (this is the guessing part), since we had a tracking nr we used the two first letters of our own number.

Then just simply double click in the text input box, and Googles Search completer drops down and there you go; other peoples tracking nr. On CA, there was only one package but on CE, CC, AR and others the list is longer. When these suggestions appears, press the number you want and presto!

As you can see this package has had a long way to travel, and has been collected in Vadsø by the addressee after a quick roundtrip to Grong.

We here at Nordic-Vikings don’t feel that all safety measures has been taken by Posten AS since this method is possible, and we fear that this can or have been exploited by people of less nobel intentions. Posten has been made aware of this by us but has not yet replied.

Nordic-Vikings.net takes no responsibility for lost or stolen mail due to this article as it is not our system that is faulty.

Future aircrafts uses human energy to operate

Airbus has started to think about the future. From now on, energy from humans will be harvested from us like batteries and used to power up the aircraft!

Few details revealed

Many might think of the matrix when they read that energy is getting harvested from our bodies to empower the plane. Luckily it’s not as bad as it sounds. Airbus has not revealed many details about how this technology is working, but it sure sounds interesting. Details that has been revealed is that this aircraft will be built with a new type of biomaterial that make use of the excessive heat that we produce. This heat is then collected by the bio material and converted into energy which is stored.

To get maximum absorption of excessive heat, the seats are built with auto-morphing technology to adjust to the human no matter which size he or she might be. What kind of material this is remains a secret for now, but what we do know for sure is that this is some sort of smart biomaterial. We pick a wild guess that it’s made with good help from nano technology.

The Aircraft

The aircraft is divided into three zones.

Smart Tech Zone is the zone at the back of the plane. This one almost looks like the one we have today but only with modern technology like auto-morphing bio material seats.

Zone two is the Interaction Zone, and is found in the middle section of the plane. This zone is buildt in with hologram technology and will help the passengers to relax and kill flight time.

The last zone is the Vitalizing Zone, and is located in the front of the aircraft. This zone has smart seat technology and might give the passenger body treatments like massage and other simple spa treatments. It is also built with surface morphing technology that we also guess is nano technology based. This surface morphing technology will be able to turn the roof and walls transparent to give the passenger a feeling of freedom and a nice panorama view. Looks like this zone might end up to be the new “First class”.

As off today any ticket price is yet to be revealed..

Since Airbus keeps on holding back information on this, Nordic Vikings will keep tracking this story and bring you any updates as they get announced by Airbus. In the mean time, have a look at the promotion video that has been released from Airbus.

Enjoy..!

Altibox, Norway’s best ISP, TV, Energy and Phone provider is ripping of they’re customers

Today (09.06.2011) Altibox AS decided that over a quarter of a million TV viewers no longer should get to see Discovery, TLC and Animal planet without dishing out approximately $56 extra â month and without telling their customers in advance.

The company explains that they could not come to an agreement with Discovery Channel because they felt that Discovery Channel wanted Altibox to pay more than other providers and therefore they take it out on their paying customers, this has proven not such a good idea as the customer’s are now gathering in numbers in this Facebook group protesting the companies actions, several Norwegian newspapers have contacted Altibox and got the standard answer and on the company’s Facebook page here and here the negative feedback is raining down. So what does the company do? They stay completely silence and give their beloved standard answer to all calls and emails.

This will for sure weaken Altibox’s position in the TV provider market in Norway but will it be enough to make them rethink their strategy? Only time will tell.

Altibox is directly translated allinbox in English the Norwegian FB group has renamed them to Littibox or littleinbox in English!

Update(10.06.2011):

According to Discovery Channel they did not demand more from Altibox than they do with others but they have said that they are more than willing to start new negotiations with Altibox.

Altibox on the other hand keeps up saying that Discovery is to blame for this and that they have done what they could, they admit that they should have been more open about it and let people know in advance but this sounds more like a poor excuse.

As of writing there have been numerous people stating that they have canceled their subscription to Altibox and urge others to do so since Altibox apparently is breaching point 11.2 in the contract which states that Altibox will give costumers a heads up at least 2 months  prior to changing the subscribed channels.

we here at Nordic-vikings.net strongly urge Altibox to come to terms with Discovery fast and they lay down all their cards as to what happened and why or they risk loosing allot more customers

If you want to support the protest send emails to LeifAarthun.Ims@altibox.no (CEO of Altibox) or support the facebook page!

Update:
Altibox has pronounced that they have been able to come to twerms with Discovery channel and that the channels will be back in the basic package deal alongside with the BBC channels they put in when they removed Discovery, and that later on Discovery HD and Animal Planet HD also will be in the basic package deal.

iOS 5 Hacked!

Just a few hours after Apple released iOS 5 Beta MuscleNerd and his crew were able to root the OS, apparently apple have not yet filled in the security holes that make GeoHot’s Limera1n hack possible. Whether or not Apple is going to fill in these holes prior to releasing iOS 5 remains to be seen, tho we here at Nordic-Vikings personally hope they don’t as we do not support the strict regime Apple runs with they’re products.
