Play the classic Nokia Snake game at YouTube

Have you ever had the experience of watching a completely boring movie that your Facebook friend sent you from YouTube?? Why not play a game instead without closing YouTube??

YouTube is a great place to find movie clips off all kinds of stuff. Some use it to illegally watch TV series, others use it to get a laugh, and a few of us use it to stimulate their “personal needs”. YouTube has simply become one of the biggest media broadcast website in the world with over 20 million guests each day! YouTube went public in February 2005 but was bought by Google Inc. in 2006 for $1.65 billion dollars (Qwiki.com 2011)

Now YouTube also provides a hidden feature that allows their guests to play the classical Nokia snake game with the movie clip as the background. The hidden feature can only be activated if the user enters the hidden key combination on their keyboard.

The steps
  1. First you need to click on a movie clip to make it start.
  2. Then you need to pause the clip.
  3. The next you need to do is to hit the arrow keys: Right + Up at the same time.
  4. You should now see the a gray snake fly across the movie clip.

The snake is operated by the arrow keys, and you only have one attempt to eat the things. When you “die”, the game ends and you will need to enter the arrow combination again.

As a tip if it doesn’t start on the first try, you should keep on hitting the arrow combination more that 2 times. That should do the trick. Another thing to keep in mind is the background color. The snake and the “snake bait” is light gray so a dark background is highly recommended.

The dinosaurs are coming back

Telltale games have announced a new Jurassic Park game, a direct sequel to the original movie.

Universal probably did not want another dino hunter shoot’em up game and that’s where Telltale games comes into the picture as they are well known for their focus on character building like they did in both Sam & Max and Tales of monkey island

Judging from the trailer it looks like we’re going get some answers to the questions we had after the first movie, like what happened to the can of dino DNA that Nedry stole from the lab and lost in the mud?

The game is set to launch no Pc, Mac and all consoles the launch was scheduled for July 2010 but has been postponed and is rumored around April 2011 but this is unconfirmed here’s the trailer… For now that’s we got

Qwiki gone Public!!

As of today you can now watch the most beautiful online search engine in action. The Qwiki search engine had earlier been restricted to members only, or people with invites. But NOT any more!

(Qwiki, 2010)

Now you too have the opportunity to gaze at the amazing findings that appear when you search for a topic using the futuristic search engine.

In the past, only people with invites could receive  the warm feeling inside by typing in search topic after search topic. But that was the past! The Qwiki

project (founded by Doug Imbruce and Louis Monier) has now decided to grant every one the opportunity to take part in their project. But keep in mind that the project still is in it’s “Alpha” state. So if your topic search goes wrong or doesn’t show up, that’s the reason.

(TechCrunch, 2010)

In 2010 the Qwiki project won first prize at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco. They had showed the world a new way to consume audio, text and video combined into a beautiful presentation.

If you haven’t tried the product yet prepare to be amazed! This is now available for everyone at http://www.qwiki.com

Should you still be a bit sceptic to it, we highly recommend that you watch the Qwiki presentation recorded at the TechCrunch convention..

(Qwiki, 2010).

Enjoy the SHOW!

A dying hard drive’s last sounds

Ever had a HDD fail on you with no warning, maby you missed the warning signals. Do you even know how failing hard drives actually sound like?

The guys over at Data Cent have taken the time to record and identify what certain sound mean, so you and I can tell the difference between a bad bearing and a stuck spindle. To make it all a lot easier to sift through they have sorted the sounds by manufacturer make and disk size, the list also include some 2.5 inch laptop drives as well and it contains almost all the sounds a hard drive possibly can make when it gives up it’s ghost…

So… do you dare to not check what that noise you just heard was? if not head on over to Data Cent and find out
